CD and DVD Replication and Duplication

Neato provides both CD and DVD replication and duplication production services through our online ordering tools. Both manufacturing methods result in high-quality CDs and DVDs. So, what is the difference between disc replication and duplication?

CD and DVD Replication

Disc replication is the process of creating a CD or DVD directly from plastic and other raw materials.  From your master disc we create a “glass master” which in turn is used to form an injection mold (stamper) through which discs with embedded content are produced.  After the discs are produced, we use either silkscreen or offset printing to apply your artwork directly to the disc.  Quality testing before, during and after production is standard for each replication project

CD and DVD Duplication
Disc duplication refers to burning content on a pre-manufactured blank CD-R or DVD-R.  We apply your artwork using a thermal, silkscreen or other high quality, on-disc printing process.  We perform a number of pre-production quality tests on your master and our duplicating equipment performs additional checks during production.

Should I Replicate or Duplicate?
In general, duplication is best suited for short-run projects up to 1000 units or for those that require fast turnaround.  We can produce your duplication projects in as little as 1 business day.

Replication is more economical for long-run projects due to the set-up costs involved.  It also requires longer lead time.  We have a minimum replication volume of 1000 units and a choice of either 8 or 12-business day turnaround.

From a quality perspective, there is no difference between the data stored on a duplicated or replicated disc.  Some DVD-Rs may not play on older DVD players; however, DVD-R compatibility rates are generally around 95%.

We make it quick and easy to design, create and order high-quality, custom CDs, DVDs, inserts and packaging in the timing that best meets your needs.
